How to write a kick butt Narrative

Image
How to write a kick butt Narrative As a writer who has done a ton of research into the proper way to create a storyline from an original idea, plus understanding the groundwork laid out by previous storytellers, I’ve figured out how to create and write a narrative that is both engaging and gripping due to understanding the true elements of a story from it’s theme to the character biographies to the plot, the conflict of interest by the protagonist, the style of the story and the end point of view. These are the items we will go over in this article today, so, let’s get started. Your first thought of any creation is the theme to which will drive the story itself and your characters. It is important to know how the story will play out before you start to write. For example, is there something in the past of your main character that he or she needs to learn, say in a love relationship or a behavioral message that needs to be learned. Are their feelings to be explored, strengthen...

The Writing Process

Image
Many have asked me over the years how do I write a book or movie script? My response is always the same, the movie script comes first then the book is written. However, it's not always that simple. You have to have a story idea and a picture in your mind as to who your main characters will be and the location for the story idea. If research has to be conducted, then it's off to the library or many hours on the internet researhing history, a location, or a city to ensure I can describe it correctly and accurately. Once I have my research done and my story concept locked down it's easier to begin the concept of writing the story down on paper. But that's not the reality of writing a book or script, there are other steps that must be taken before I can sit down and begin writing. Here is what has to happen before you can even think about writing a book or movie script, first you have to have an idea for a story.  You must come up with a story concept . Ask yourself will y...

Secrets to Writing Better stories

Secrets to Writing Better stories Every one thinks that writing is as easy as a piece of cake, unfortunately, those who think that have never written an article, or even a book to know or understand how difficult it can be to string words together that make sense and tell a story at the same time. Writing a story is the hardest thing of all. To come up with characters with good names, a back story and a goal within the story is really the hardest of all, besides the overall story itself. Then you have to string out that story with an antagonist and a protagonist that reaches 120,000 words to fill the pages of a book. If your really good you can write the movie script to tell the story which is only about 100 pages long. Either way, the concept of telling the story is the pinnacle of writing first and foremost and that can take up to a few years, or only a few months, depending on how good you are as a writer.   I’ve written several books in my career, my first one took 6 m...

Know the Difference Between Names and Phrases throughout Periods in History

Image
Know the difference between names and phrases   When writing a novel or any story, one has to ensure that they know and understand the differences between names and phrases being used throughout history. For example, say you’re writing a book about pirates but you fail to call a known ship’s captain as a privateer and instead called him a pirate. There is a huge difference between the two words and the meaning of one word is usually honorable while the other is criminal. But then again, a privateer could be a criminal even though they have a commission by a lord, King or Queen to plunder other ships cargo under the name of said royalty. For example, Admiral Francis Drake although having a commission from Queen Elizabeth I in 1572 was a privateer had plundered various Spanish settlements throughout the Americas for his own personal fortune. It is widely known that many privateers stepped over the line from their commission and were known to attack other vessels that did...

Create your character Biographies

Image
Create your character Biographies Outside of fundamental outlining a novel, to give you’re a good foundation of your story, the best part of writing any story to this author, is creating good Eye-catching characters back story that the reader can fall in love with. For example, Stuart Woods characters in his Stone Barrington Series are my favorite set of characters, then it’s J. A. Jance characters in her Beaumont series, oh and let’s not forget David Baldacci’s Camel Club series characters.   Each author designed their characters to be engaging, compelling and who have issues to resolve even though their dealing with a murder, or national security issues to solve. It’s that personal issue that attaches these characters to the reader. Never forget that. The compelling story is what makes the reader love your character. The reader must fall in love with them to the point where they are routing for them to succeed. No matter what type of writer you are, your characters you ...
