May your New Year be filled with an abundance of stories to be written, plots to be discovered and characters that make you smile and hate them at the same time. Happy Writing this year and remember never give up on your dream to finish that novel, short story or screenplay.   

  Get the story out of your head One of the great things about having a creative mentor is they don’t hold any punches and tell you like it is no matter how it makes you feel. But as writers and creative individuals we need that type of slap upside the head at times, right? During one of his check up calls as he called them, he asked me how much writing I achieved for the book I was working on called “Last Wish”.  Create your character Biographies Outside of fundamental outlining a novel, to give you’re a good foundation of your story, the best part of writing any story to this author, is creating good Eye-catching characters back story that the reader can fall in love with. For example, Stuart Woods characters in his Stone Barrington Series are my favorite set of characters, then it’s J. A. Jance characters in her Beaumont series, oh and let’s not forget David Baldacci’s Camel Club series characters.   Each author designed their characters to be engaging, compelling and who have issues to resolve even though their dealing with a murder, or national security issues to solve. It’s that personal issue that attaches these characters to the reader. Never forget that. The compelling story is what makes the reader love your character. Many writers start off using Microsoft Word since it comes with most computers and laptops to start their writing careers. As a published Author, that's how I started. However, since that time, I have graduated to multiple pieces of software because I am difficult to please when it comes to software. Since I write multiple versions of writing projects, I seem to use a variety of programs to produce my work. When I write a book, story, I lay it out in  storybook or celtex script writing software, because it's just easier for me to lay it out as a movie script on paper because that's how I see it in my head. Then once I am done with say, the forth draft of the script, I can then begin the process of  turning it into a book by discribing a room, a person, or a scene in general.  As I said, Microsoft Word is the cheapest way to start your writing career. Once you get one story out of your head, try investing in more strategic software that is specialized for other purposes....

As an author I love to share my ups and downs in writing that novel, plus mentoring new writers to achieve their goals of writing that novel,  script or just journal life's ups and downs to go on with life. So starting this September, 2021, I'm starting this blog to help motivate aspiring writers to start writing. Every Wednesday I will share something to do with writing.
